Week One

This process begins with a completely blank board ~ the nothingness before Creation.
We proceed to a traced image, made without innovation or deviation. The icon teaches the Truth, and therefore must be reproduced with as much care as Sacred Scripture.
Once the pattern is on the board, the base colors are put down. The order is beginning to take shape out of chaos, but is still simple, basic, and grossly divided into areas.
We use watered down acrylic paint, to make translucent layers that are overlapped until the colors become opaque. Both week one and week two have been working on these steps. Next week I think some students will be beginning robe work. Stay tuned.
